In the Heart of the French Alps :Challes Les Eaux Even with a real piece of modesty, the "Centre Savoyard de Vol à Voile Alpin" is located in one of the finest French country for soaring. In fact, Savoy county is right in the middle of the Alps "croissant" which starts from the French Riviera up to the eastern part of Austria. So Challes les Eaux is an ideal place for cross country flights over the South Alps and the Swiss summits and even to the western Austria. |
The Challes les Eaux airfield is backed on the "Bauges" mountains and very close to the beautiful "Chartreuse" and the"Belledonne" chain. The closest town is the capital of Savoy : Chambéry. Chambéry is at crossroad between Lyon and Geneva deserved by two highways (A43-A41) Lyon-Chambéry-Geneva and (A41) Chambéry-Grenoble-Lyon.
A little help to find us. When arriving from Geneva on highway A41, exit at "Chambéry ", then drive across the town on the turnpike to "Turin". After the tunnel, leave the turnpike at the third exit "La Ravoire ". Make a left at first traffic light and then a right at the next one (arrival on RN6). The entrance of the airfield is just 500m on the RN6. When arriving from the south (Grenoble), leave highway at exit "Les Marches" (only 300 m before the main toll gate). Then on the RN6 follow direction to Chambéry, drive through Saint Geoirs, then through Challes Les Eaux. The airfield entrance is only 500m after the leisure park with a small lake. |
